At ACCESS Care at Home, our purpose has always been clear: to care for our aging community with compassion, consistency, and dignity. That purpose doesn’t change, even when decisions are made that affect the way health care providers are reimbursed.
Recently, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare announced a 4% reduction in Medicaid provider rates, effective September 1, 2025. These cuts will touch nearly every area of care, from hospitals and nursing facilities to in-home services like the ones we provide.
We understand, news like this raises concerns. Many providers across Idaho are worried about how these changes will impact patient access to care, especially in rural counties like ours. But here’s what we want you, our caregivers, to know:
✅ We will not be reducing wages. Your hard work, dedication, and the relationships you build with our clients are the very heart of ACCESS Care at Home. We value you, and we are committed to protecting your pay.
✅ Mileage reimbursement will be slightly adjusted, but you will still receive 100%. Medicaid currently reimburses 44 cents per mile for authorized transportation. That rate is changing to 42 cents per mile. ACCESS Care at Home has always passed along the entire Medicaid mileage reimbursement to our caregivers. We will continue to do so.
✅ Our clients will continue to receive the quality of care they deserve. Medicaid’s adjustments may change reimbursement numbers, but they will not change the way we show up for the seniors and families who depend on us.
✅ We are adapting with stability in mind. Our care team is actively working through these changes, planning carefully so that we absorb the impact without passing it on to our caregivers. Health care is ever evolving, and Idaho’s decision is part of a larger national trend of states tightening Medicaid budgets. While the challenges are real, we see this as an opportunity to strengthen how we operate, advocate for elder care, and continue building relationships with families across North Idaho.
At the end of the day, what matters most hasn’t changed: our commitment remains the same. We will continue to stand beside our caregivers and clients, ensuring quality care and stability no matter what changes come our way.
Thank you for being part of ACCESS Care at Home. Together, we will move forward with resilience and confidence because our community depends on it and because you are worth it.
